The People’s Choice Awards 2012

It’s winter again! Which means it’s time for The People’s Choice Awards, one of the only awards shows where YOU get to chose who wins!

This year I’m rooting for quite a few shows, two in particular- Person of Interest (Favorite New TV Drama) and 2 Broke Girls (Favorite New TV Comedy).

I saw the Person of Interest pilot at the Paley Center about a week before it premiered on ABC. I was immediately hooked and started to tell everyone to watch! I’m a huge fan of Michael Emerson and was incredibly excited when I found out he was going to be back on TV! It’s about a machine that can determine who is going to be in trouble and a man, with the help of Emerson’s character, who helps stop the danger. I love the concept of the show and can’t wait to see future seasons!

2 Broke Girls, a HILARIOUS new comedy starring one of my favorite young actors, Kat Dennings is a show not to be missed! I saw it at the Paley Center prior to its debut on FOX. I couldn’t stop talking about it after seeing the pilot. One of the best comedy shows I’ve seen in quite a while! It’s about two girls, both broke as the title describes, trying to survive. One girl who was rich must get used to not having everything and everyone at her beck and call. Together they are such a funny combination!

I’m rooting for both of these shows! So don’t forget to vote!

V - The Complete Second Season

In episode 9, Anna tries to bliss a human. She is elated that she can control humans the same way she does Visitors. Now she simply has to bliss the humans into listening to her in order to gain total control of Earth. If aliens were to come to Earth, do you imagine they would be peaceful or manipulative and treacherous like Anna, what would you do? Would you trust them until given a reason not to or would you distrust them until proven otherwise?

I think, like humans, aliens come in all shapes, sizes and types. So the chances they are peaceful vs. aggressive is about the same as with humans. I would hope the human race would not overreact in any negative ways and cause any otherwise peaceful aliens to act aggressively. As with humans, I would take everything they say with a grain of salt. See what happens.

Hobbes constantly calls Ryan out as a traitor even though his treachery has far worse consequences. Not only has Hobbes killed humans, he slept with Erica and then indirectly caused the death of Erica's ex-husband Joe. Have you ever been in a situation where someone regardless of their own actions kept pointing out what you were doing wrong? How did you bring this to light or work around it to move forward?

I’ve never been in a situation where my actions were being pointed out regardless of the others actions. I suppose if I had, I would take their advice with a grain of salt, never ignoring their actions but at the same time, not comparing mine to theirs. I would eventually confront them, hopefully with backup from someone else, about their ignorance and the issue would be resolved. That’d only be in a perfect world of course.

In the series finale, the 5th Column is crushed in a failed coup against Anna. A new human opposition force has entered the picture called Aries Project. All humans above ground are blissed and fall under Anna's spell just as the V Armada approaches. An evil twin Lisa has been created who seduces Tyler becomes impregnated by him and then murders him. Lisa the Visitor Princess is imprisoned after an attack on her Mother's life and Anna kills her mother Diana.

If I were to write the follow-up episode to the V series finale, I would have the battle between the V’s and humanity continue. Perhaps give the V’s the upper hand in the fight but eventually leading to a victory for Human’s with the remaining V’s surrendering joining together with the Human’s and coexist peaceably. I have to admit however that it ending in peace would be less exciting but peace is always a positive outcome.

Broadway Salutes

Yesterday, I attended the Broadway Salutes ceremony in the Times Square Visitors Center. It’s a yearly event honoring those who have worked on Broadway for 25+, 35+ and 50+ years. It was incredible to see those who make our theatre industry run, honored for their hard work and dedication.

To close the event, Raúl Esparza performed “The Best Is Yet To Come”. Here is the video. Enjoy!

Fringe - Season 3 - Who would you chose?

Throughout most of Season 3, Peter is in love with who he thinks is Olivia, but it’s actually Olivia from the alternate universe. When the original Olivia returns, Peter is emotionally distraught, because he realizes that he’d enjoyed spending time with the alternate Olivia. If you were Peter, what would you do in this situation? Would you stay with the alternate Olivia or return to the original Olivia who you developed an initial relationship with?

What an incredibly tough question. I think it would be most important to keep your relationship with the original Olivia, albeit non-romantic, as strong as it was before she was switched. I also think, if the love is that strong, the relationship with alternate Olivia should continue. Though it would be a tough situation, it would be worth it for true love.

Today, September 9, The Broadway League presented a special 9/11 Tribute in Duffy Square, for which the Broadway community united for an encore rendition "New York, New York" in honor of the iconic performance that took place one decade ago when Broadway performers helped inspire New Yorkers to return to normalcy with a landmark outdoor sing-a-long to the same tune.

This time, Broadway came together in support of 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, engendered by 9/11 Day's "I Will" campaign (911day.org) which seeks to encourage millions of people to perform good deeds, support charitable causes, and volunteer in tribute to the 9/11 victims and survivors, and all those that rose in service in response to the attacks.

In addition to cast members from Broadway shows, Broadway performers who led the show included: J oel Grey, Bebe Neuwirth, Ben Vereen, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Kara DioGuardi, Reeve Carney, Tony Sheldon, Brad Oscar & more. The song follow NYPD Officer Daniel Rodriguez's operatic "God Bless America" performance.

Produced by The Broadway League in support of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, in partnership with the Times Square Alliance with additional support provided by Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and with generous support from Music Performance Fund (MPF).

Fringe - Season 3 - Fate vs. Free will

At the end of Season 3, Peter makes the decision to sacrifice himself thus altering the future. If you were given the opportunity to change the future, would you take matters into your own hands, or would you trust in fate?

If I was given the opportunity to change important events in my future, I don’t think I would. Although I like the idea that all choices you make affect your future, I do not believe that a hands-on approach to changing your path would be good. There are consequences to everything and I think it would be tempting fate. Yes, I believe in fate. Everything happens for a reason. I also believe in luck. So no, I would not change my future!

A ‘Catch Me’ Lament

The first show I was ever officially involved with had it’s last hurrah on Broadway yesterday. ‘Catch Me If You Can’ had 32 previews and 170 performances.

I became involved after meeting Brandon Wardell, actor/producer extraordinaire in Los Angeles after expressing interest in Leap of Faith. Long story short, I fell in love with the concept and music of ‘Catch Me’ after attending a presentation and the rest, as they say, is history.

I’m proud to be a part of ‘Catch Me’. For many it’s been a long journey; for Brandon, six years. It’s closing may be the end of it’s current broadway run but I know this show will continue to grow as it begins its National Tour in 2012 and perhaps, someday, returns to Broadway.

I look forward to the next phase and hope you all will join in future fun!

See you at the theatre!
